ISSUE 61 - JANUARY 2010

Innovation, quality, creativity, constant focus on customers and commitment to the future – these are the core values that TTB-RENO believes makes it a highly trustworthy partner.

TransTechnology Brasil was founded, as RENO, in 1955 - almost exactly the same time as the Brazilian automotive industry began to develop. In 1976, the SKF group acquired the company, following its earlier acquisition of Seeger-Orbis. In 1995, already with the name of Seeger Reno in Brazil, it became part of the TransTechnology Group, headquartered in the USA, and mainly focused on metal fixing parts. In 2002, now using the name of TransTechnology Brasil, it joined the USA based Interkey Group.

Today TTB-RENO sees itself as a pioneering and leading company in the development and manufacture of highly engineered products, including retaining rings and stamped parts for almost all automotive manufacturers and the worldwide aftermarket. The pursuit of clear strategic objectives, a real commitment to teamwork and to continuous improvement in its processes and products now characterise the operations of TTB-RENO.

Technology

For decades, TTB-RENO has demonstrated its creativity in developing creative solutions for specific applications, then applying its extensive experience in engineering and manufacturing. Developing new ideas, transcending obstacles, and always looking towards the future, is as important today for TTB-RENO as it was when the company was found 55 years ago.

TTB-RENO develops and manufactures for diverse markets. In particular it produces highly complex products for the automotive industry, working as an engineering partner from the initial stages of the product development, and investing significantly in innovation and technology to meet the exacting requirements of its customers. Its technological know-how generates customised solutions, which deliver an excellent cost versus benefit relationship. To do so TTB-RENO relies on a state-of-the-art tool room, modern simulation methods and testing equipment, as well as a full engineering and metallurgy laboratory.

Technology management

For the development of precision and safety parts, TTB-RENO has promoted an integration of the processes in the evolution of the product, starting with the initial phases of project development through to the final stages of manufacturing. TTB-RENO uses rapid prototyping processes to develop functional models as well as virtual computer simulation. These advanced techniques combined with manufacturing technology performance substantially reduce development time and guarantee volume production processes of the highest quality.

Creative thought

For TTB-RENO the capability to present highly engineered and creative solutions is a core requirement for its technical team. The company is clear that questioning existing solutions and transforming paradigms are prerequisites for innovation. Its innovative leaderships is based on close technological partnership with highly rated universities, which includes constant meetings with collaborators in which issues are critically analysed and knowledge and experience interchanged. For TTB-RENO promotion of what it describes as this ‘ambiance’ is a constant commitment.

Total quality in manufacturing

For TTB-RENO the focus on quality is at the heart of the culture of the group. The company is adamant in its commitment to the objective of ´zero defect´, by means of high international quality standards in all phases of the process.

The company says its robust and integrated quality management system guarantees the application of this philosophy, and has as its primary objective the continuous search for leadership in quality, innovative technology, confidence and competitive prices.

TTB-RENO sees its quality system as promoting a strong integration between its sophisticated quality monitoring systems and all the steps of the manufacturing processes, preventing the occurrence of defects. It carries out frequent verification audits and inspections to guarantee all the quality standards. The company also places emphasis on the awareness of each of its personnel to contribute significantly to the quest of zero defects and the high quality grade of its products.

TTB-RENO commitment to quality management is recognised in a series of accreditations, including ISO 9001, achieved in 1996 and ISO TS 16949 achieved in March 2005. In addition the company has Ford Q1 status, QSB from FIAT and General Motors, WHTX and CQI-9 certification for heat treatment, VDA qualifications and others.

Social and environmental responsibility

TTB-RENO’s corporate objectives include commitments to both social responsibility and environmental management. In the social sector, TTB-RENO participates in different activities together with the community, including a school owned by TTB-RENO founded in 1984 with the objective of teaching children from the age of 3 to 5 years old.

TTB-RENO was the first Latin American company in its industrial segment to obtain the environmental certificate ISO 14001 – clear evidence, it says, of its conviction to the preservation of the environment, and the way its concern for the quality of life of all its stakeholders has been translated into all actions of the company.

These environmental principals form part of TTB-RENO’s integrated quality management system – recognising the company’s obligation to follow the current environmental protection laws both at home and abroad.

In production, all processes are analysed critically for their environmental impact, according to the specifications and current legislation, in order to minimise environmental risk. In order to achieve this, TTB-RENO has a complete waste treatment station and programme to manage residues.
