The Crown Nail company resurfaces 06 July 2017

The Crown Nail Company Ltd has resurfaced under the Alfred Kennedy Trading umbrella that also owns the Oxford Steel Nail Company.

Director Alfred Kennedy Raj is pleased to see the UK’s oldest nail manufacturing company with a depth of history is back in business.
By the 18th century, nail making had become an important Black Country industry, and the Crown Nail Company started around 1850 in Wolverhampton, UK. During the First World War the company supplied all of the tacks that were used to hold the fabric to the wooden framework of the early military aircrafts.
With excess production and cheap imports, British manufacturers found it difficult to compete with their Asian competitors. In December 2004, the decision was taken to end nail and tack production. The British built machines had been sold and shipped overseas, and the new owners of the machines would manufacture the nails and tacks for the Crown Nail Company. The company existed for a short period in this new environment, selling them under the world famous Lion Brand.
The tacks were noted for their quality, clean finish and sharp points. The majority of tacks were exported under the Lion Brand once they arrived in the UK.
In April 2011 the Crown Nail Company Limited was dissolved. On the 8th August 2016, the Crown Nail Company Limited was incorporated as a private limited company in the UK, and the Lion Trade Mark registered on the 27th July 2016. The tacks and nails are once again in production under the Lion Brand to the pleasure of the old customers.
The Crown Nail Company would welcome inquiries from potential global distributors.
