UK-based Performance Feeders Ltd says it is able to supply a unique high-speed line for automatic assembling and powder painting of roofing and façade screws, which has been designed using the latest spear point technologies.
The line, which can be modified to suit specific needs, can assemble and powder coat screws from 4.2mm diameter x 25mm – 85mm long and 4.8mm diameter x 19mm – 85mm long, in both magnetic and non-magnetic materials with corresponding bonded sealing washers in diameter 12mm and 14mm. The capacity when running 4.8mm x 35mm and steel 14mm diameter, plus 2.5mm EPDM washers, is 500 pieces/minute or 240,000 pieces per 8-hour working shift.
Powder from all polyester powder manufacturers can be used – subject to trials. The line is capable of assembling and powder painting a range of screw and washer sizes using additional equipment and gives a consistent finish, which can’t be achieved by a hand painting production system. Colour changeover time is approximately 30 – 45 minutes for one skilled operator and additional colour changeover units are available to help reduce the time even further.
For longer and larger diameter screws, Performance Feeders has recently developed an additional powder painting line. The machine is capable of painting screws with or without washers, and has the option of a screw/washer assembly head if required. The machine will handle screws in 4.8mm to 8mm diameter – up to 300mm long. Production output is dependent on the screw diameter and length range.
