Innovative nail packing solution 29 June 2015

Weighpack International (WPI Services BV) has recently introduced an innovative, low-cost and compact nail packing line, and has already installed several of these semi-automatic nail packing lines at customers’ facilities worldwide.

A specialist in fastener inspection and packaging equipment, Weighpack explains that the nail packing line works by using a floor-standing bulk storage hopper to supply product to a magnetic belt conveyor that then transports the nails to the weighing system. Using a belt conveyor is an efficient way of lifting product to the weighing system, as it helps reduce the total height of the installation drastically.
The weighing system then supplies the correct weight to be dumped into the box, after which it will be magnetic orientated, saving packaging volume and therefore increasing storage space.
The packing line is suitable to pack products such as nails and staples up to a length of 120mm, and can fill boxes with up to 25kg of product – at a capacity of 3 – 4 boxes per minute.
“For now box presentation and take away are done manually, which means the initial investment is lower than a full automatic packing line,” says Weighpack, adding: “Of course these features can be automated in the future.”
