Performance more effective, maintenance simpler 19 March 2018

wire® and Tube® stands - 10.F40 and 10.F22

WAFIOS Umformtechnik is looking to attract a particularly high number of specialist visitors to its stand at wire® and Tube® 2018 in Düsseldorf, with the introduction of its innovative 1-die double blow machine, the HT 5-40.

The special features of the HT 5-40 include the intelligent use of two dies in order to achieve an especially high-level of efficiency. In addition, with this operating principle – with a crankshaft revolution, a double blow part is produced and thereby the machine load is minimised.

Productivity: Designed and optimised for longer continuous operation

Through the newly developed technology, the production time between two tool change stops is very nearly doubled. In practice this means that with this forming machine a ghost shift with considerably higher productivity can be operated.

Time saving: Tool change preparation parallel to production

The changeover times, too, have been reduced through the new machine concept. So, amongst other things and in parallel to the running machine, the punch and the gripper jaws, mounted on a common baseplate, can be pre-prepared at an external set-up station.

So that customers can save costs, the tool dimensions of existing machines have been adopted. Thereby WAFIOS has enabled evolutionary and capital investment-friendly modernisation. The new HT 5-40 has been developed by focusing intensively on the wishes of the customers and based on a great deal of practical experience.
“We have listened carefully and now offer a solution that satisfies requirements extremely well,” explains Volker Wengenroth, graduate engineer, manager of engineering and development at WAFIOS Umformtechnik.

Innovations: Developed from practice for practice

In addition to the enormous increase in productivity, the very compact double-blow forming machine combines numerous additional benefits and innovations. The tool space is completely sealed so that no ‘oil carryover’ of the products takes place and thereby expensive consequential costs are avoided.

A further innovation is the play-free slide guideways, which through the smooth machine running associated with this ensures a longer service life of the tools. WAFIOS Umformtechnik has developed a completely new scheme for the claw feed system. The new system distinguishes itself through a significant simplification and a simultaneous increase in efficiency and has already been registered for a patent.

With the new design, WAFIOS has been able to reduce the individual parts by around 30% compared with conventional double-blow headers and significantly improve the accessibility. In total, it is streamlined in that the maintenance work and costs are significantly lower and the operating costs have been reduced.

Digitalisation: Fit for the future with reproducible processes

Customers are well equipped for the age of digitalisation as well. All the values of the machine and the pre-settable tooling are reproducible through scaled settings. This means the settings can be stored as retrievable data for repeat orders. Manufacturers who must have their processes certified in audits for the automotive industry benefit from this. At any time and with little effort, they can call up the precise settings of the machine via the control and then once again produce the desired customer’s products with the highest precision and constant quality.

Precision. Innovation. Integration.

WAFIOS Umformtechnik GmbH is among the leading manufacturers of innovative machine technology and tools for cold and warm forming with traditional brands including HILGELAND, KIESERLING, EW MENN and NUTAP.

The focal point of its product portfolio are cold formers for the production of high-quality fasteners made of steel wire, stainless steel, high alloy, and exotic materials. Furthermore, its integrated solutions are completed with secondary operation machines, long life quality tools and a comprehensive service.
