The security fastener experts 17 May 2017

From relatively humble beginnings more than 22 years ago, Hafren Fasteners – based in Wales – has grown to become the supplier of choice for many organisations worldwide, supplying the widest range of security fasteners from stock.

2017 saw the security fastener specialist make a triumphant return to the Fastener Fair shows, 22 years after their first exhibition in Castle Donington in 1995. “Over the years Hafren has grown along with our customers,” says Matthew Lynes, managing director at Hafren Fasteners Ltd. “We believe our commitment to exceptional service has led to our position as the leading security fastener supplier. Our unrivalled service is backed up by our commitment to quality. Hafren was awarded ISO 9001:2015 earlier in 2016.”
Hafren products are only supplied through the company’s distributor network. However, Hafren works closely with any individual or company to ensure the best solution for security fastener needs. A key service element is Hafren’s expert sales team and technical department, which has the experience and knowledge to help customers select the correct fastener for the job. That is supported by an excellent logistical service to customers and high stock levels.
What are security fasteners and why do we need them?
Special headed screws, nuts and bolts that are either permanently fixed or can only be removed using a matching driver tool. As the name suggests, these types of screws are used wherever security is a primary concern.
There are now dozens of security fasteners on the market, such as the more widely recognised, Pin Hex and 6-Lobe Pin security screws, which feature a protruding pin in the middle of an otherwise conventional screw head. Another popular type – referred to as 2-Hole, or ‘snake eye’ screws – features two small holes on top, which require a unique 2-pin matching driver to install and remove. Of course, there are always the Clutch Head screws – the original one-way security drive. The special ridged design of this drive means that it can only operate in a clockwise motion and is installed using a standard slotted screwdriver.
Hafren stocks all these security fasteners as well as its own unique patented security fasteners, such as the Kinmar® Permanent (a high security one way nut/bolt) and the Kinmar Removable® (two-way security nut/bolt). As well as screws, nuts and bolts Hafren also supplies security enclosures, such as the Armour Ring™ (a conical collar that can be simply applied to standard hexagon nuts or bolts to render it tamper resistant) and the Nogo™ (a 2-part enclosure offering the highest security for any nut or bolt). In addition, Hafren also offers clients a bespoke made-to-measure service.
To maintain the widest range of security fasteners available on the market, Hafren is constantly working hard to design new products and bring out even more sizes of existing stocks of fasteners. One such new product is the PowerSIX™ – a versatile tamper resistant, thread forming, security drive – ideal for all types of fencing applications. The trilobular self-threading screw enables quick and easy installation, eliminating the need for nuts and reducing installation time, saving on labour costs.
“So, remember when it comes to security fasteners, Hafren are the best fit!”
